Presentation of Domaine MATAYAC

Domaine Matayac is a family estate rooted in the viticultural tradition of Cahors for several generations. Located on the Lot terraces, it benefits from an exceptional terroir that gives its wines a unique identity. The family, passionate about Malbec, strives to produce wines that reflect the typicality of the appellation while respecting natural balances.
The estate practices sustainable agriculture with particular attention to biodiversity and respect for the environment.
Terroir and Climate:
Located on clay-limestone soils, the vineyard benefits from an ideal exposure that allows optimal grape ripening. The region's climate, with warm summers and cool nights, promotes the concentration of aromas and the preservation of acidity, resulting in balanced and deep wines.
Winemaking and Aging:
The winemaking process is meticulously monitored by the estate team. Grapes are carefully sorted before being destemmed and crushed. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, allowing perfect temperature control. A maceration of several weeks is carried out to extract maximum color, tannins, and aromas.
Aging takes place in oak barrels, with a mix of new and second-fill barrels. This barrel aging adds subtle woody notes and a silkier texture while respecting the fruit and freshness of the Malbec.
The Tasting
This Cahors offers a deep color with purple nuances. Its very expressive nose of black fruits hints at barrel aging through a subtle woody touch. On the palate, silky tannins join the aromatic persistence in a fiery and intense ensemble.
Perfect for your powerful dishes such as grilled or sauced red meats, game, charcuterie, and strong cheeses.

A Cahors just the way we like them: intense, deep, and authentic. The nose reveals aromas of ripe black fruits, licorice, and a hint of cocoa.
