Presentation of the MATAYAC estate

Domaine Matayac is a family estate steeped in the Cahors winemaking tradition for several generations. Located on the terraces of the Lot, it benefits from an exceptional terroir that gives its wines a unique identity. The family, passionate about Malbec, strives to produce wines that reflect the appellation's distinctive character while respecting its natural balance.

The estate uses sustainable agriculture with particular attention paid to biodiversity and respect for the environment.

Terroir and Climate:

Planted on clay-limestone soils, the vineyard benefits from ideal exposure that allows for optimal grape ripening. The region's climate, with hot summers and cool nights, promotes the concentration of aromas and the preservation of acidity, resulting in balanced and deep wines.

Vinification and Aging:

The winemaking process is meticulously monitored by the estate team. The grapes are carefully sorted before being destemmed and crushed. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats, allowing for perfect temperature control. Maceration lasts several weeks to extract maximum color, tannins, and aromas.

The wine is aged in oak barrels, using a mixture of new and second-wine barrels. This barrel aging adds subtle oak notes and a silkier texture while respecting the fruit and freshness of the Malbec.
